about
Immersion Athletics began when Matt Kuntz, an avid riverboarder and founder of Mean Monkey Sports, LLC, was brainstorming on the Gallatin River outside of Big Sky, Montana. The Class IV rapids of the Gallatin's "Mad Mile" had calmed and Matt was thinking about how to bring the powerful energy of riverboarding to people who didn't have access or the physical ability to ride whitewater.
In a stroke of insight, Matt realized that the movements of riverboarding, shifting weight over a pivot while moving exterior limbs, translated incredibly well into a number of sports in virtual reality. With the ride design and attachments, a number of adventure sports such as bodyboarding, kayaking, snowboarding, skiing, standup paddle surfing, etc. could be easily transitioned to the virtual world.
Mean Monkey Sports, LLC has spent the last four years bringing the design from the drawing board, to prototype and towards reality.
